The hilarious Marcel the Shell With Shoes On is back, in a new video by SNL alum Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp, both of whom made Rolling Stone’s 10 Funniest People of 2011 list. The clip, which is simply subtitled “Two,” features Marcel talking about his daily transportation on a bug, fancy muffin beds and his refusal to beg for the nickname he so desperately desires (“Ace”).
Marcel is by far our favorite viral Internet shell, with or without shoes on.

Concert openers can be quite hit-or-miss. Last night, I saw Roger Daltrey perform TOMMY and some of The Who’s greatest hits at the Nokia Theatre LA. The opener, Paul Freeman, was very talented and totally up my alley of music tastes. Check him out: http://www.paulfreemanmusic.com/
My favorite openers I’ve seen:
-ADELE!! opened for John Mayer in December 2008, Nokia Theatre LA. She was so humble, and star-struck, and couldn’t believe she was performing for the biggest venue yet. Things have sure changed, as Adele has sat atop the Billboard charts practically all year
-Jon McLaughlin, opened for Kelly Clarkson at the Gibson Ampitheatre Universal in November of 2007.
-Michael Buble, opened for Norah Jones, Santa Barbara Bowl, May 2003.
At the Foo Fighters concert at the Forum in LA last week, each band member recalled their first show at the Forum. Guitarist Pat Smear showed his age when he revealed that his first Forum show was the Rolling Stones with “Stevie Fucking Wonder” as the opener.
This makes me wonder, what makes some openers become the next big thing?

-I’m newly married
-We’re currently trying to buy our house
-I used to think people who were obsessed with their pets…until I got Sadie, my amazing Alaskan Malamute/Lab/Rott/Shepherd something.
-I work in the entertainment industry as a writer and interviewer for my favorite show’s website (Hint: It’s the number one show in the world)
-I go to a ton of concerts and used to work security at the Santa Barbara Bowl, despite being 5’3” and barely 100lbs.
-I live in L.A.—where I was born and raised.
And now I have to run to dinner and a concert…be back when I remember I started a tumblr account!
